Can you treat my child?

Acupuncture and aromatherapy are a wonderful, natural way to calm and soothe children, support through illness and improve behaviour and concentration.

I have experience of working with children with severe and profound learning difficulties and a range of disabilities., having taught at a school for children with special needs.

Are acupuncture and aromatherapy safe for my children?

Aromatherapy is safe for all ages, although only the gentlest essential oils in low dilution will be used on babies and small children.

Acupuncture is also safe to use with children. Young children are very receptive to treatment and thus require only a small amount of stimulation – not necessarily involving needles. If used, very fine needles are inserted for just a short moment then removed. Older children may retain the needles for longer periods. Acupressure and Tuina (a Traditional Chinese medical massage) massage can be very effective alone along with the use of cupping and moxa. These are all pain free and often a lot of fun for children to get invloved with and for parents to use at home.

I will not give treatment to a child that is refusing treatment. They will be given time to become comfortable in the environement – have a play and an explore. If the child still refuses any form of treatment, a young child will still receive benefit if one of the parents are treated. Often they’ll decide they’d like to join in now please!

I have undertaken extensive advanced training in the treatment of children with acupuncture, aromatherapy and massage.
